Kingfisher Nursery was established in 1995 to meet the growing demand for quality pre-school education. We are registered to have 26 children per session and cater for 2 – 4yrs 8mths (school age). The nursery is based in a purpose built surroundings in the grounds of Mereside C of E Primary Schooll, Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury. Our aim to provide the very best standards of early years care and education for every child, whether they attend for 2 sessions or 10. We aim towards a happy, stimulating environment, which will lead naturally to the development of the pre-schools skills necessary for a smooth and happy start to a child’s infant school career. Our philosophy is to enable all children to reach their full potential through a curriculum based on individual needs. We offer a wide range of activities in order to stimulate children’s imagination, social interactions and creativity.

We have a large, bright classroom, and is planned to be appealing to children. where the children have access to a lots of educational areas of learning

Home corner
This is changed half Termly and is connected to a theme, so we might have the theme of colours, so it might be an ice cream shop, looking at all the colours of ice cream or a travel agents for our holiday’s theme. The home corner is kitted out with a dressing up box, kitchen, babies (cot and baby changer) and lots and lots of food!

Book corner
This is a place where the children come and rest, read books and chat to each other. We also use this area for register time, show and tell, and story / song time. All the book racks are at the children level and the books are changed regularly, so the children get a good choice.

Messy area
This is an area where children get to experience paint, playdough, junk modelling, cutting and sticking, feely trays – containing shells, sand, water, leaves, cereals etc
